What You Get
The Houston CityPASS includes Houston’s most popular attractions. After living in Houston for 3 years, we decided to be tourists in our own city! Choosing the CityPASS saved us almost 50% on the cities top attractions! Even if you skip the last two attractions, you STILL save money. So it is like getting to go to 2 place for FREE or think of all the extra Tex- Mex and margaritas you can have with the money you save!
Space Center Houston
Space Center Houston is one of our favorite attractions offered in the CityPASS. Make sure to leave yourself plenty of time for this attraction! Our favorite part about Space Center Houston is not only you get to experience the inside museum with amazing exhibits, but there tram tours included with your ticket. So first thing you do when you get inside is grab a timed ticket for the tram tour!
The tram tour takes you to the Apollo Mission Control Center, where they have restored it to look just as it did for the first lunar landing mission! Also included in the CityPASS is the Astronaut Training Center where you can see astronauts train for current missions and the development of new space exploration vehicles. Our other favorite exhibit was the Saturn V Rocket, it is absolutely incredible to stand under! You have to go to see how expansive this rocket is!
Inside the museum there are some other really cool exhibits. Another favorite included in the CityPASS is getting the opportunity to touch a moon rock, I mean how cool is that!!?! There are also a ton of interactive exhibits were you can explore inside spacecrafts and get an up close look at life in space. You will not be dissapointed in this museum, it has something for everyone!
The Houston Downtown Aquarium is a great place for kids and adults to explore sea life. BUT the real winner here is the gorgeous white tigers. They are the last exhibit included in the CityPASS and are absolutely stunning, hands down one of our favorite parts about the aquarium. For a few dollars extra you can feed stingrays! We absolutely loved this experience and was definitely a highlight of our trip!
If you are getting hangry, they also have a really cool restaurant attached to the aquarium with a giant fish tank that you can spend hours watching! They also have a great bar and outdoor seating, so this makes a great lunch or dinner stop.
Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS)
This is our other absolute favorite attraction in Houston and it’s included in the CityPASS. We would go with anyone who came to visit because it is that amazing! They have hands down the coolest dinosaur skeleton exhibit that we have ever seen. This is where you will spend most of your time.
HMNS also has an amazing Egypt exhibit that is well worth your time. It has so many amazing artifacts and a huge collection of mummies and sarcophagus. You have to visit these two exhibits, they are absolutely incredible!
Houston Zoo or Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
The Houston Zoo is a great way to spend a nice afternoon. There are a lot of animals in this great downtown space. We loved watching the gorillas, they have a huge enclosure that allows you to view them. The elephant habitat is also incredible, you are able to get pretty close to these gorgeous animals. If possible, try to go early in the morning to beat the crowds and the heat, more animals will be out during the cooler morning hours!
We chose to go to the Houston Zoo and not the Museum of Fine Arts, but we have heard nothing but great things about the Fine Arts Musuem. Some favorites of friends who have been, are the objects from the Roman Empire, Greece, and Egypt. There is also an amazing sculpture garden with works from Matisse and Rodin. The Houston CityPASS gives you options to make your vacation or staycation special.
Kemah Boardwalk or Children’s Museum of Houston
Kemah Boardwalk is a great way to spend a day outside. There are tons of restaurants all with outdoor seating and a view, which makes this a great place for lunch or dinner! The CityPASS allows you to ride the Ferris Wheel, Drop Zone, Brave the Bullet wooden roller coaster, and kid-friendly rides. You also get to head up to the Boardwalk tower and get a beautiful view of the bay.
We have not been to the Children’s Musuem, but our friends who have kids absolutely love the Children’s Musuem and go back often. The Children’s Museum was named #1 Parents Magazine and has so many hands on educational activities.
What You Save
Houston CityPASS you 47% off, which is a savings of $54! It is a seriously great deal when you factor in individual prices for all the attractions you would be visiting anyway!
One of our favorite things about CityPASS is you get to skip the line on many attractions, which doesn’t seem like a big deal, but believe me it saves so much time. We saved easily 15-30 minutes at each attraction, not having to wait in line and buy tickets, that alone is worth it much of the time because who wants to spend their vacation waiting in line? They also offer discounted upgrades which is absolutely amazing because you can see more for less money!
