How to Get There
One of our favorite things about living in Downtown Seattle is how close everything is. You definitely don’t need a car. We would highly recommend taking the Link light rail, as it drops of really close to the stadium. Or our personal favorite is to go a little early and prefunk at a bar or coffee shop in Pioneer Square before heading to the match. Also you can take a Lime Bike in a dedicated bike lane down 2nd Ave almost all the way to the stadium, which is really convenient.
Sound like a true Seattlelite and prefunk (pre-function). Two things you have to try in Seattle are coffee and beer. Seattlites all have their favorite and these are the two things we generally miss most when we travel.
If you are looking for drinks we highly recommend hitting up Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, Pioneer Square. If you are looking for an amazing hand crafted cocktail hit up Damn the Weather, for yummy pizza go to Revolution Pizza Music, get a pint at Shawn O’Donell’s, or try Flatstick golf, mini golf and the amazing beer selection at Flatstick Pub. Other places that are on our bucket list are Dead Line, BRGR Bar, TAT’s Delicatessen, Good Bar, Elysian Fields, and Quality Athletics.
If you are looking for a good cup of coffee, Pioneer Square is full of amazing coffee shops. We personally like Cherry Street Public House because they also have beer, for those that are divided between two of Seattle’s best. The London Plane is also a great choice and has lots of amazing pastry choices.
Looking for food? We absolutely love Dough Zone Dumpling House located in the International District. There are so many amazing restaurants packed in this area, you really can’t go wrong. Just smell your way to an amazing meal.
What to Bring
Seattle Sounders FC matches are in the Seahawks Stadium, which is a really cool stadium. You cannot bring in a purse or bag, unless it’s a clear bag, so just bring what can fit in your pocket. There are spots to check your bags, but the lines are really long, so save yourself some time and plan ahead. Also know that it is an open air stadium, so check the weather because you might need sunglasses or rain jacket depending on the weather and what side of the stadium you are on.
If you are looking to buy a souvenir, get a Sounders scarf. You will see almost everyone with one, they are definitely the accessory to have no matter the weather. Before every match a special guest will have the honor to begin the Scarves Up tradition.
Grab A Drink or Food
The matches are so enthralling, you definitely will not want to miss any of the action, so make sure you grab your food and drink ahead of time. Also it will be really busy after the first half, as pictured above, but thankfully the lines move pretty fast.
Century Link has lots of local food options, some of our favorites are Din Tai Fung’s xio long bao (famous soup dumplings), Uli’s Sausage House, Manus Tacos (our favorite tacos in Seattle), Great State Burger, Ivar’s, and Beecher’s Mac & Cheese. Also make sure to check out Elysian for some amazing local beer, honestly any local beer will be really good, just be aware that beer is generally hoppier in Washington than anywhere else.

Get ready for a stadium that is excited like none other! The end zone is definitely the liveliest place to be. Between the band, flags, songs and cheers, you will instantly be immersed into the match. Any seat is a good seat to join in on the action, so stand up, join the chants, and don’t forget Scarves Up!
Where to Stay
Hotels can be very expensive in downtown Seattle, but you get the convenience of everything being in walking distance or a short Uber ride away. We absolutely loved our stay at the Thompson Hotel, they also have an amazing rooftop bar! The Thompson is a very trendy hotel with a very high end level of service.
If you can’t find a hotel right by the stadium, pick one near the Link and you will have a short ride to the match. We have also heard amazing things about the Edgewater Hotel, plus the view can’t be beat. We have had amazing luck with these hotels in other locations the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, W Seattle, and the Kimpton Palladian.
