Tickets for Oogie Boogie’s Bash work different than normal park tickets. You get entry starting at around 4:00pm and the tickets are good for BOTH California Adventure and Disneyland. We really liked that they were good for both parks because we could hit up the special events and rides in each of the parks. Make sure to grab your tickets early because they do sell out!
Nothing will beat the magic that Disney provides on a normal day, let alone the holidays. Every nook and cranny is decorated with Disney Halloween magic! You could literally spend your whole time just taking pictures of the decorations! If you have never looked for hidden mickey’s, make sure to keep your eyes out for them, they are everywhere and are so fun to find!
Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree
Make sure you take time to visit Mater’s Graveyard Jamboree, the decorations here are simply incredible! You will be immersed into the Cars movies within the first step and will never want to leave. Everything here gets a Halloween makeover from the Cozy Cone Motel to Flo’s Cafe. Disney Halloween magic is definitely felt here.
Halloween Themed Rides
Our favorite part about Halloween at Disneyland was the Haunted Mansion. It gets a Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington makeover! Definitely go early and grab your Fast Pass because this ride will have a REALLY long line! Seriously it was the highlight of our trip.
There are other rides that get a Halloween makeover, but Haunted Mansion is definitely tops. Guardians of the Galaxy has a Halloween upgrade, help Groot and Rocket on a Halloween Adventure! Halloween surprises happen all over the park, so make sure to grab a schedule so you can make sure you don’t miss out on the magic!
No kids?? Psstt…. the lines are shorter! Even though the park is packed, the lines are really reasonable for how full the park is. This is because most of the crowd is trick or treating and finding costumed characters. So if you are ok skipping those things, the ride lines are really manageable. Just make sure to plan out your fast passes because the most popular rides will still have a line, but we found so many rides with little to no line!
Whatever you do make sure to pop into treat shops! They have Halloween themed treats that are oh so yummy! Just when you think they can’t make Halloween any better, they find a way! They also have pumpkin spice churros that are heavenly!
Everyone knows Disney has the best fireworks, so make sure to grab a spot to watch the Halloween Screams fireworks display! There are lots of spots all over the park to get a great view. You can line up early and wait, or do what we did and grab some treats and watch from the back. We could see just fine and were able to save our feet and catch a few more rides!
Where To Stay?
We decided to make a week long trip and make it our midway between San Diego and Los Angeles. So we chose to drive to Los Angeles and stay at the Hollywood Roosevelt, which we absolutely loved. When we go again, there are definite perks to staying on site and Disney’s Grand Californian is definitely the most popular option. Disneyland Hotel also offers all the Disney on site perks at a little cheaper rate. During Halloween, Disneyland property hotels are also decorated with Disney magic, so it’s an extra fun way to spend Halloween!
